Some would say that Mile #-0- is the start of our journey to Alaska. Well, my odometer tells me that we are about 3,800 miles from our start in Georgetown, Texas. I drove them and we paid for the fuel so I’m taking credit! Below is a group photo of our Adventure Caravan. On the lower right is Jim our Wagon Master. On the lower left is Stu, Our Tail Gunner. Note that everyone seems to be wearing jeans, they seem to be the clothing of choice as if careful you can get a weeks use out of a pair.
The day started drippy rain, Anne-Marie’s hat is obscuring the ‘0’ on the Mile #0 sign. We had some shopping to do and I needed some wood blocks made up so I can jack-up the camper to unhook from truck. Our replacement legs have been shipped and will be waiting at UPS store in Fairbanks, AK. I’m budgeting 4 hours to install them, I wonder what I forgot.
We were taken to a Game Dinner where we ate Elk, Boar and Bison in an outdoor cap style atmosphere. I liked the Sweet & Sour Boar, Anne-Marie liked the several deserts! The family farm that has been doing this for 20 years also gave us a tour.
The food was served buffet style and I must say there was plenty of it with lots of fresh veggies and novel salads.
Boars seemed scrawny, I named this pair Sweet & Sour.
This is a new design bear trap, untested as of this date.
Back in town on Sunday afternoon, there was a large car show despite the rain in the morning. These folks only get to use their hobby cars about 3 months of the year, I was very surprised at the turnout.
Tomorrow, we are moving about 270 miles to Fort Nelson. OK, we are already there as I write this, I can’t spill the beans on our adventures as It would violate my contract. I can tell you, Wish you Were Here.
How about the rack on this fellow!
It is now Wednesday evening and I have been unable to upload this blog. Sorry for the confusion, I must stop writing one issue and start another of the become too cumbersome.
