Grand Teton Welcome 2013

Bear Butt 2013 6-11-2012 2-20-05 AM 1862x1750

This 300-400 pound bear was investigating out site yesterday in the afternoon.  By the time I had gotten my camera he/she decided to look for food else where.  No noise, it just wandered up to within about 40’ of our back door.

We are dry camped at Colter Bay Campground,  about 6800’ about 15 miles from the south entrance to DSCN2423Yellowstone.  ‘Dry’ indicates we have no water of electric supplied to our camper.  As you can see I’ve parked to have sun on our solar.  This is an old campground, the sites are all parallel to the roadway and designed for 24’ campers.IMG_8033

We were so pleased to meet up with Charlie & Dawn Boles. Charlie is this year’s President of The Mexican Connection, Anne-Marie is Vice-President and their meeting gave Him a chance to flow down information to her as to her duties in planning the 2014 caravan to Mexico when she will be the Wagon Mistress.

Charlie's camera was used to take these photos, I swiped them off his SD card when I copied the group shot on the right.  My friend John noted to me last week that his first view of the Tetons was as inspiring as The Grand Canon od Niagara Falls. I have to agree with him!

IMG_2287Our trip up here from Salt Lake City was pleasant interrupted by a stop in the small village of Lava Hot Springs Idaho.  The Main street was about 1/2 mile long, the major business activity seemed to be renting tubes and rafts to shoot the rapids which run for several miles along route 89a.397417_10200691538564642_1444104522_n

I supplied a little entertainment when I parallel parked our rig on Main St. so we could have breakfast at the wonderful The Chuckwagon Restaurant.

Passed the test, Idaho home fries with no onions.

Getting closer to the National Park, we almost ran into these fellows.DSCN2419 They were about 100’ away and were being guarded and escorted by Park Rangers.

It’s all about the Mountains out here, they have their ups and downs.  Nevertheless they are spectacular as they seem to rise out of our horizon.

We cannot fail to realize how small we are and how great HE is.
