Going to Jackson Hole? Bring Money! 2013

Drippy rain on Wednesday caused us to travel 40 miles and visit Jackson Hole, WY.DSCN2456  It’s a nice little town nestled in the mountaind with a serious spending problem.  Did I buy this T-shirt for $29.99?  Call me cheap but no I did not.  The center of the village is surrounded with arts and crafts boutiques that I can not justify.  The real estate office had some starters at $749k, most were well over a million.  Folks that work here are bussed in (about 50 miles) or live in company housing similar to turn of the century company owned mill and mine housing.

DSCN2466On the outskirt of town there is an Elk Preserve where this formerly endangered species is thriving.  This Elk connection is celebrated all around Jackson Hole.

The Center Square of the town has a park which has 4 arch entries constructed by elk Antlers.DSCN2454  Tourist often pause and have their photos taken so they can recover from sticker shock.  These photos are sent back home to relatives, no way will those relatives be getting T-Shirts!

Note:  No animals were harmed to harvest these antlers.  Elk bucks shed annually and the local boy scout troop collects them as a fund raiser.

OK, I’m ranting about prices in Yuppieville, I’ll try to stop.  It’s lunchtime, there are several restaurants.  Perusing the menus' posted on them and cross referencing with my credit card balance, I think I can afford a DSCN2460grilled cheese sandwich.  We are in luck, there is a restaurant in town that specializes in them.  Anne-Marie had a 1/2 Mac & Cheese and a side salad, I had a Grilled Ham & Cheese.  Yes,DSCN2450 they were good.  Not $24 good!

DSCN2461Lots of folks took a wagon ride, we did not.

DSCN2444I choose to sit with George.

Nice set of Horns Girl!

Note:  I’m not sure when this will be posted.  I’m writing it at Bridge Bay Campground situated central area of Yellowstone Park.  I have not found a trace of a phone or WiFi signal in the area on this our 1st evening here.
