We arrived at the San Diego K.O.A. Park on Friday after an uneventful trip over the mountains that tested our Cummings Engine and our Retarder. We was running 42mph at 2400 rpm for many miles with plenty of time to take in the scenery. The campground is very nice, a bit rich for our tastes at $38/nite.
Lot’s of wind power out here! Blowing sand and 45mph speed limits in the hills tend to get this driver’ attention!
On Saturday, we allowed the youth in our old bodies assume control and went to the San Diego Zoo. In the mid-50’s they had a TV program which my Dad would only allow Perdue Football to preempt. We walked uphill and down from 9:30 until half past exhaustion (about 3:30). We had a $10 Burger and a $9 draft beer, yes we are in Southern Kalifonia!
You cannot go to a great zoo without having a good time, it brings out the ‘Kid’ in all of us.
We arrived back at Camp to find that several of our traveling companions from Chapter #8 had arrived. I noted that it was 4:00 and the party was on!
The next few days will be spent preparing for our tour to Ensenada. We have Legal, Cultural & Practical information for our 2st time travelers. not all work however, there will be food, drink and tall tales of our summer to share. Someone has to do it, might as well be us!
